What is UNEVSA?

UNEVSA (United Electric Vehicle Safety Association) is an international, non-profit association,  dedicated to harmonizing electric vehicle safety training and competence.

Safety & Standards

We align EV safety training with relevant international standards and best practices, creating a common language for competence levels.

  • Reference to international EV safety standards
  • Clear competence descriptions per level
  • Support for regulators and industry

Education & Competence

The Global Training Program (GTP) provides a structured framework for training centers to design, deliver and document EV safety training.

  • Modular program from basic to expert
  • Defined learning outcomes and roles
  • Transparent competence documenation

Collaboration & Recognition

UNEVSA builds a network of recognized training centers and stakeholders, enabling mutual trust and international recognition

  • Membership for training centers and partners
  • Shared terminology and templates
  • Platform for international exchange

The Global Training Program (GTP)

The GTP is a competence-based framework for HV safety training. It defines levels, roles and learning outcomes – not single course, but a structure that training centers can implement. Its structure is consistent worldwide, while the technical content adapts to the specific vehicle category.

The foundation of GTP is not a construction standard for how vehicles or machines are built, but a safety standard for how people are protected from the effects of electric current. For this reason, we do not refer to “High Voltage” as a universal term.
Instead, we use the broader concept of “Hazardous Voltages” when addressing electrical risks across all vehicle and machinery categories.

How the GTP is structured

  • Core HV Safety Qualification HV-0 to HV-3
Provides the standardized safety foundation required for all vehicle categories.

  • Technology‑Specific Competence Modules
Adds the system and application knowledge needed for the relevant domain, including passenger cars, trucks, buses, machinery, racing vehicles, aircraft, watercraft or rail vehicles.

  • Specialized and Advanced Training Options
Offers optional modules covering OEM‑specific procedures, national regulatory requirements, or advanced technologies that go beyond the core qualification.

  • Practical Skills & Safe Work Application
Ensures that participants can apply their competencies safely and consistently in real working environments, following structured procedures and validated methods.

  • Transparent Assessment & Certification
Each UNEVSA Global Training Program (GTP) concludes with a standardized assessment that verifies theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and safety awareness. Training providers offering UNEVSA-aligned programs may undergo independent quality audits by authorized bodies such as “EvalCert”. Successful participants receive an Electric Vehicle Awareness License, a digital competency credential issued through the “EvalCard” System, providing transparent and verifiable proof of qualification.

  • Program Structure & Learning Framework
Each UNEVSA Global Training Program (GTP) includes a dedicated overview defining:

    • Competence level
    • Learning objectives
    • Training structure
    • Assessment requirements
    • Certification pathway

Why the GTP matters

  • Safety‑first: Safety competence protects technicians from electric hazards

  • Global consistency: Same structure worldwide, independent of country or vehicle class

  • Technology‑flexible: One framework, adaptable to all electric mobility and machinery sectors.

  • Clear communication: Training centers, employers, authorities, and OEMs share a common language of competence.
